These requirements are in line with the EuroPsy project and the Conference of Presidents of Master’s Degree Programmes in Psychology, and aim to provide a solid educational foundation, clearly define the professional scope of future psychologists, and enhance their employment opportunities.
For admission to the master’s degree in Clinical Psychology you must:
A) have earned an Italian BA degree and have acquired, by the deadline of the registration for the selection, at least 88 university credits (for graduating students even the exams which are present in the study plan and have not been passed yet will be considered) distributed in each one of the 8 PSIC* disciplinary sectors:
*Please refer to the correspondence table of scientific-disciplinary sectors set out in Annex B of Ministerial Decree no. 639 of 2 May 2024.
OR IN SUBSTITUTION of the Italian BA degree:
B) have acquired another recognised qualification earned abroad.
The foreign qualification must have been issued by a legally recognized University or by a legally recognized post-secondary Higher Education Institute and must allow, in the education system of the country that issued it, the continuation of university studies at the next level - second cycle (Bologna process).
The Selection Committee assesses the suitability of the foreign academic qualification for admission to the course.
For the purposes of fulfilling this requirement, the following will be considered valid:
a. holding one of the certificates at a minimum B2 level listed in the CLA equivalence table, obtained no later than 5 years prior to the academic year of admission (international certificates recognized by the CLA): International certificates recognized by the CLA;
b. holding a Medium of Instruction (MOI) certificate attesting that the applicant has completed a degree programme entirely taught in English, either in an English-speaking country or in Italy or abroad. The MOI certificate is considered equivalent to a B2 level of English.
Proof of English language proficiency is a mandatory requirement for admission to the selection procedure. A basic knowledge of the Italian language at the time of enrolment is strongly recommended and must be further developed during the two-year programme. This is necessary because students are required to undertake practical training activities, which—at least in the second year—are conducted in Italian.
Proficiency in Italian is also essential in view of the final Practical Evaluation Test (PPV – prova pratica valutativa), which is held in Italian and qualifies graduates to practice as psychologists in Italy.
Failure to meet the admission requirements will result in exclusion from the selection procedure set out in the relevant notice and will prevent enrolment.
Students whose mother tongue is not Italian are subject to an additional admission requirement:
The possession of an adequate knowledge of the Italian language is required in order to undertake the Practical Evaluation Test in Italian, as established by Ministerial Decree no. 163/2021.
As an entry requirement, candidates must demonstrate—during the assessment of their personal preparation—a level of Italian language proficiency corresponding to at least B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
This requirement may also be fulfilled by submitting one of the following certifications:
Candidates admitted without a B1 level of Italian at the time of enrolment will be conditionally enrolled. A committee appointed by the Degree Course Council will verify the required level of proficiency by September 30, 2026. Failure to meet this requirement will result in the automatic cancellation of the enrolment by the Student Administration Office, with notification to the applicant.
Furthermore, by March 2, 2027, enrolled students must demonstrate that they have achieved a B2 level of Italian (CEFR). This requirement must be fulfilled either by submitting a certification issued within the CLIQ system or by the “Dante Alighieri” University for Foreigners of Reggio Calabria, or by passing an assessment conducted by a committee appointed by the Degree Course Council.
Failure to meet the admission requirements (as specified above) will result in exclusion from the selection procedure and will prevent enrolment.
The University will facilitate attendance to language classes to ensure students the possibility to reach B2 level during the first semester.
